Sustainability

Where do you get your materials and textiles from?

I source my textiles from companies such as; The Organic Textile Company, TinSmiths, Green Fibers and mainly charity shops or eBay.

How do you make your dyes?

Each dye bath is made from ingredients from plants, flowers, food waste and scrap metals. Each ingredient requires a different method of extracting colour. The most common process is boiling the ingredients in water.

How long is the process of dyeing from start to finished piece?

Dependent on the size of the piece and my current workload it can take anywhere from 1 week to six weeks.

If I have material already, would you be able to dye that for me?

Of course! I love regenerating existing textiles and garments, please drop me a message with an image of the piece and your ideal colour and I’ll see what I can do.

Care

How do I look after my piece once I get it home?

The beauty of natural dyes is that they will fade overtime and will evolve with you. For this ancient process, they will need a little extra care to maintain. The natural cycle of colour will be apart of the beauty of your item and I hope you will embrace the variations that occur.

When you need to (not often) please wash in cold water with delicate cycle or hand-wash. Wash items alone or with similar shades. Due to no chemicals being used, please use a gentle or pH-neutral detergent that does not contain baking soda (this can shift the colour) + dry flat in the shade to avoid any colour runs or fading.

Can I just stick it in the washing machine?

As long as it’s on a cold cycle with a gentle detergent then yes.
